The Canary Islands is a Spanish archipelago located off the northwestern coast of Africa, about 100 km from the Moroccan coast. While the Canary Islands are part of Spain and the European Union, they are an autonomous community with a population of over 2 million people.
Party Balloons can ship to the Canary Islands, but there are some shipping restrictions to be aware of before placing an order.
Orders are shipped via UPS or FedEx, with shipping costs starting at $39.83, which will be calculated at checkout.
Delivery time is typically 4 to 7 business days, assuming there are no delays with the courier company or customs. However, expect potential delays of a few days in many cases.
We generally prefer not to ship to the Canary Islands via UPS due to longer delays. However, UPS may be available upon request or could be the only shipping option available at the time of shipment.
FedEx officials state that the receiver must clear the parcel and pay any applicable duties and taxes. Normally, Party Balloons takes care of this for our customers, but unfortunately, we are unable to handle customs clearance for orders shipped to the Canary Islands, which often results in additional charges and delivery delays.
The courier company will contact the recipient to assist with customs clearance. Shipments to the Canary Islands require the recipient's NIN (Número de Identificación de Extranjeros). FedEx and UPS do not complete deliveries, and a local agent (such as the post office) is responsible for final delivery.
As an autonomous community of Spain, the Canary Islands is not part of the EU’s VAT free movement of goods arrangement. The region maintains its own VAT system, which mirrors that of Spain.
All shipments to the Canary Islands must be marked as Broker Selected Option (BSO). This means FedEx or UPS will not act as the customs broker, and a local broker is required to clear the goods upon arrival. The receiver must provide the broker's address and phone number in advance to avoid delays. If no broker is indicated, FedEx will arrange for one upon arrival in Spain, but this may cause delays.
A Commercial Invoice (CI) is required, and Party Balloons supplies this to FedEx or UPS. The recipient's EIN/VAT/NIN number is also necessary for clearance.
Please note that the Canary Islands imposes a 4.5% General Indirect Canarian Tax (IGIC) on all shipments, which is outside of our control. Additional fees may apply to shipments.
